Mrs. Burton Smith died Monday morning at her home, 224 North Diamond Street, at 2 o'clock.  Mrs. Smith had been ill for about two weeks with typhoid fever, according to the attending physician.  The real cause of her death however, is attributed to child birth.  The fact that Mrs. Smith had been quite ill for several weeks is supposed to have hastened her death.

Mrs. Burton Smith was formerly Miss Minnie Epperly, of Loudonville.  She was the daughter of Valentine Epperly and wife, well-to-do people of Loudonville.  She would have been 20 years old had she lived until next March.  She had been married since July 4, 1895.  Her mother had been attending her for a week previous to her death, and it was Mrs. Smith's desire as well as the wish of her parents that she be interred in the Cemetery at Loudonville.

Typhoid fever, the disease from which the death resulted, is contagious and therefore the remains cannot be removed from this city unless the remains are embalmed and the body is wrapped in a sheet of bichloride of mercury and placed in a metallic sealed casket lined with zinc.  This would cost from $150 to $200 and her parents can scarcely bear this expense and the remains were therefore interred in the Mansfield Cemetery.

The funeral was held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from their residence on North Diamond Street.
